Semiconductor fabrication

For development of semiconductor devices, BROLIS applies the most advanced III-V semiconductor fabrication method – molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The MBE method allows for semiconductor material deposition with a degree of precision down to a single atom layer, thanks to which BROLIS can grow the most advanced crystalline semiconductor material structures used for development of next-generation electro-optical systems. Extensive wafer material qualification methods such as X-ray diffraction, surface morphology analysis and photoluminescence mapping ensure top-quality semiconductor material.

Semiconductor components

BROLIS has state-of-the-art semiconductor devices backend and characterisation facilities. Semiconductor component handling and packaging processes like die-bonding, wire-bonding or micro-lensing are performed with fully automated machines, ensuring the highest possible yields. At every assembly step, extensive characterisation procedures are performed, semiconductor components undergo temperature, electrical, optical and aging performance tests.

System R&D

BROLIS has all the necessary tools, expertise and experience to develop electro-optical systems ranging from conventional visible aiming lasers up to sophisticated infrared camera systems. Close cooperation with end-users in military and law enforcement allows BROLIS to develop next-generation electro-optical systems which are able to fulfil the requirements of even the most demanding missions. BROLIS’ high engineering capabilities, continuous development efforts and desire for innovation allow it to offer never-before-seen solutions such as GaSb laser diode-based Band I directional infrared counter measure (DIRCM) lasers or the world’s first SWIR weapon sight system - S100U.

System production

High quality and consistently on-schedule production are two of the most important aspects of BROLIS’ services. Reliable supply chain and material stock management, automated machines, custom-built tools and comprehensive assembly instructions are used to minimise human error and ensure stable, uninterrupted production. Various metrologies and multiple quality control processes are applied at every step of the manufacturing process to ensure the highest possible quality.
All produced systems are registered in BROLIS’ secured database to ensure product manufacture traceability for further maintenance of sold systems.

Quality

BROLIS fuses innovative technologies with managerial competencies and market expertise while developing and manufacturing products to compete with the top market players. Fundamental prerequisites for ensuring the reliability of the technologies we design include properly qualified employees, quality control, investment in automation solutions and the continuous pursuit of improvement.

To assess the compliance of our products with established standards, we perform various tests, ranging from system qualification to environmental and field testing. BROLIS performs testing according to the MIL-STD-810, AECTP, DEF STAN, RTCA and other similar testing standards or test procedures provided by our customers.

Optical system qualification:
  • Laser optical power and spectral analysis
  • Laser beam profile analysis
  • Electro-optical system testing: collimators, boresight measurements
  • Night vision system testing
Environment system qualification:
  • Climate chamber testing
  • Water immersion testing
  • Shock, vibration and acceleration testing

BROLIS has implemented a quality management system that adheres to the ISO 9001 requirements and consistently complies with said standard.

Our quality management system is based on the principles of strong customer focus, motivation and implication of top management, process approach and continuous improvement. Quality assurance is achieved by a professional team with strong core competence, automation solutions in R&D and production, sufficient quality gates in each process, effective communication, self-assessment, control of outsourced activities/products and close cooperation with customers and end-users of our products.

BROLIS maintains compliance with all relevant international and local government regulations and legislation in order to ensure that industry standards and norms as well as regulatory requirements are consistently met or exceeded.
